PA Great Outdoors Announces Free Gas Card
for Fall 2005
Brookville, PA – The Pennsylvania Great
Outdoors Visitors Bureau announced a new
strategy for reducing the stress of fall
leaf-peepers concerned about rising prices
at the pumps.
Dave Morris, Executive Director, announced
that the bureau is now packaging a
complimentary $25 Gas Card with every online
package available at
www.visitpago.com
“We see this offer as one way to help lessen
the stress of planning a Fall Getaway with
today’s fuel costs,” Morris said.
“Our region is a prime destination in the
Fall for leaf-peepers driving to see the
foliage. So if we can maintain our travel
business during the fall by offering some
assistance on fuel, we see this offer as a
win-win for everyone.”
The new program is ideal for our targeted
markets because the six-county Pennsylvania
Great Outdoors region, which makes up the
West-Rim of the Pennsylvania Wilds, is
within a one-tank drive of Pittsburgh,
Buffalo and Cleveland.
The Bureau felt the fall was the best time
to launch this promotion because
leaf-peeping tends to be mainly a driving
tour activity. And this area is a popular
leaf-peeper destination because it is home
to a portion of the Allegheny National
Forest and state parks such as Cook Forest,
Clear Creek, and Sinnemahoning.
Fall travelers driving throughout the region
quickly discover that this abundance foliage
is enhanced with the quaint small towns
found along the way.
The towns of Clarion, Ridgway, Punxsutawney,
St. Marys, and Benezette serve road-trippers
as an Oasis in the Wilds. These towns offer
a range of opportunities for getting out of
the vehicle to stretch their legs while
hunting for antiques, perusing specialty
shops, and taking in some hometown
hospitality.
Scenic drives also connect travelers to
Benezette and the Elk Scenic Drive, which is
home to the largest free-roaming Elk Herd in
the Northeast United States.
